Barney and Betty Hill were an American couple who claimed they were abducted by extraterrestrials in a rural portion of the state of New Hampshire from September 19 to 20, 1961.
UFO sightings have been as old as humanity. Thousands of years ago, in Greek and Roman civilisations and also in other parts of world, it has been reported and explained in their writings and are well documented.
However, we are bringing up a sensational incident of UFO sightings which came to be popularly known as the “Hill Abduction” case.
Their story became so compelling to be told that it was adapted into the best-selling 1966 book The Interrupted Journey and the 1975 television film The UFO Incident.
The couple lived in the town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Husband, employed with US postal services, and his wife Barney (while Betty (née Eunice Barrett) was a social worker.
The related sensational UFO sighting case, according to the Hills, the alleged UFO incident happened around 10:30 p.m dated September 19, 1961.
The couple were driving back to Portsmouth from a Niagara Just near Lancaster in New Hampshire, Betty spotted a bright point of light in the sky that was moving below the Moon.
While Barney driving on the Highway Route 3, Betty claimed to see a falling star and then it moved upward.
Not only the star moved erratically, it grew bigger and brighter.
The couple stopped their car for a closer look just south of Twin Mountain.
Betty, through her binoculars, observed an “odd-shaped” craft which flashed multi colored lights and transfered across the face of the Moon.
Through binoculars, Barney saw the craft rapidly descended in his direction.
The Hills said they started driving slowly moving through the lonely road . They observed that the object came even closer.
Betty testified that the length of the UFO was gigantic and that it seemed to be rotating. The couple watched as the silent, illuminated craft moved erratically and bounced back and forth in the night sky.
Later, about one mile south of Indian Head, the craft rapidly descended toward their vehicle. The scared couple stopped the car in the middle of the highway. This hugebut silent vehicle hovered about 80 to 100 feet above the car.
Barney was carrying his pistol, he moved closer to the object. Using the binoculars, Barney, from the car, later told to have seen eight to eleven humanoid figures, who were peering out of the craft’s windows.
The ‘alien humanoids’ seeming to look at Barney. All went back but the one continued to look at Barney and communicated a message as if telling him to “stay where you are and keep looking.”
Barney had a recollection of observing the humanoid forms wearing glossy black uniforms and black caps and a long structure descended from the bottom of the craft.
The silent craft approached to what Barney estimated was within 50 to 80 feet (15 to 24 m) overhead and 300 feet (91 m) away from him. On Oct. 21, 1961, Barney reported to National Investigations Committee On Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) investigator Walter Webb that the “beings were somehow not human.”
